02/10/10-St. Petersburg,FL-Investigators plan to dig up bodies to crack cold case homicides
The young woman found strangled inside a black trunk in the woods was never identified.
“I still think about it,” said the retired police sergeant.
The “Trunk Lady” mystery remains the oldest cold case homicide in St. Petersburg.

Onslow County,NC-Recent murder sparks tip about skeletal remains found 19 years ago in Onslow County
In 1991 the remains of a young female were found by two hunters in Bear Creek.
July 13, 2008-   Skeleton spurred inquiry

The victim was discovered on December 2, 1991 in Hubert, Onslow County, North Carolina
Estimated Date of Death: 2-3 years prior to discovery
Cause of Death: Probable homicide because of the isolated location.
Skeletal Remains
Estimated age: 20-30 years old
Approximate Height and Weight: 5′1″
Distinguishing Characteristics: Eye and hair-color unknown. Slight build.
Skeletal Findings: Possible back and/or neck problem (fusion of C2/3, slight arching in C1). Medical examiners found that the woman had a degenerative bone disease in her neck that she might not have even known about.
Clothing: Grey or brown crew knit sweater with gold thread, dark blue or black stretch pants, panty hose. A pair of white slip-on shoes were found nearby.  Fingerprints: Not available
Dentals: Upper jaw: right 3d molar erupted, left previously extracted with incompletely healed socket; tooth #8 has a facial – D composite (a tooth colored restoration for a chip in the tooth); little wear on teeth; minimal periodontal disease. Lower jaw not recovered.
Case History
The victim was located in a wooded area by local hunters in Bear Creek near Stewart Point Road on December 2, 1991. The hunters stumbled upon a skull while looking for raccoons. The majority of the woman’s skeleton was found 40 yards away from where hunters found the skull. Based on the clothes she was wearing, investigators believe she died in the fall or wintertime.
A cause of death could not be determined because no detectable injuries could be found on the skeleton.
