Details of Disappearance
Tamara Toy was last seen in May, 2006, when she was staying at a hotel with her boyfriend, Glenn Bivens. Toy was last heard from in March, 2006. After spending Christmas up north with her family, she called her son in March, 2006. That was the last time anyone in the family spoke with her. They did receive two Easter cards, postmarked in Tampa, from Toy. She sent the cards to her children, who live with family in Ohio. Toy’s last known location was at the Budget Inn, 8110 N. Tamiami Trail. That’s where she was staying with Bivens, who was arrested May 13 after almost running into a deputy in a patrol car. Toy was not at the motel at that time, but the family said they found out from the motel manager that she made a rent payment May 6. A man named Steve Cherok began paying for that motel room May 7. Bivens died when he jumped off the second floor of the Manatee County Jail in May, 2006. Before his suicide, Bivens told some of his fellow inmates that Toy had overdosed on drugs and he buried her body, but he gave no further details, according to police.Toy had an addiction to painkillers, a habit she picked up when she was a nurse on the East Coast, according to Hock. For detectives, the case is that of a missing person, and will be until the body is found.
